Austin and Rebecca officially met at a Christmas cookie party hosted by the wonderful Taylor Marie Brady. Rebecca was deep in nursing school prep and only came because Taylor insisted, on the condition she could be anti-social and sit at the kitchen table to finish her work. Rebecca met a flurry of people that night and promptly forgot everyone’s name. Austin, the cook that he is, stood by the stove browning butter for a recipe while the rest of the room made cookies; Rebecca mostly kept to herself. A few days later Taylor mentioned Austin and, after her description, Rebecca realized she meant “butter boy” — the nickname stuck. The rest is history, and Rebecca will never want for browned butter again.
